Lamberts Osteoguard® - Calcium Magnesium Vitamin D, 30 Tablets

It is well established that many people's diets are deficient in the two essential bone-making nutrients, calcium and magnesium, and that low calcium intakes can contribute to the rate at which bone mass declines with age. The DoH recommends that women should have an intake of up to 1200mg of calcium per day, a level that is hard to achieve through diet alone, especially if the diet contains little dairy produce. This problem isn’t just confined to adults as official figures show that 71% of UK female teenagers aged between 16-18 years old fail to consume adequate calcium from the diet and that there are a quarter of UK 4 year-olds following this trend as well. Calcium intakes of girls and women are of particular concern because of the risk of osteoporosis.

Magnesium, which is increasingly absent from the food we eat, is known to help in the deposition of calcium in the bones. A dietary intake in the ratio of 2:1 calcium:magnesium is often recommended. Osteoguard® provides calcium and magnesium in a 2:1 ratio, along with boron and the vitamins D and K, which facilitate the utilisation of calcium. Whilst one tablet a day provides good support for most diets, two tablets daily is particularly preferable for those with diets containing little dairy produce or those of menopausal age. Osteoguard® is an excellent partner for most multis. In situations where calcium absorption is of critical importance, it may be helpful to consider the use of Osteoguard® Synergy. This is a soluble fibre prebiotic, (not a calcium supplement), that studies indicate may modify the bowel flora in a positive way that improves calcium absorption.

Osteoguard® is an all-in-one bone health formula containing high levels of calcium and magnesium in a 2:1 ratio, alongside boron and vitamin D. Whilst one tablet a day provides good support for most diets, two tablets daily is particularly preferable for those with diets containing little dairy produce or those of menopausal age.
